3-Day Merzouga Desert Escape

Your driver guide will pick you up from your riad at 8:15 AM, and we begin our journey from Marrakech to Dades Valley, where we will spend the first night. We’ll pass through the stunning Tizi n’Tichka in the High Atlas Mountains, taking time to stop and appreciate the mountain views and snap some photos. In the afternoon, we’ll arrive at a small village where we’ll visit women making Moroccan argan oil before heading to Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous as the backdrop for films like Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and Alexander. We’ll enjoy lunch here before continuing our journey through the beautiful landscapes and historical monuments like the Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate, the Roses Valley, renowned for the Festival of Roses, and the small Berber villages of Skoura, El Kelaa des M’Gouna, and Boumalne Dades. Overnight in a hotel in Dades Valley, including dinner and breakfast.

After breakfast, we set out for the Erg Chebbi Desert in Merzouga, passing through the charming Berber villages. Our first stop is Todra Gorges in Tinghir, where we’ll take a short walk to explore the stunning cliffs. We’ll continue to pass through Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud, marking the start of the pre-Saharan oasis of Tafilalet. Upon reaching Merzouga, we’ll relax at a hotel before heading out to meet the camels. Your luggage will be transported by car to the camp, but you may want to bring a small bag with essentials like water and your camera. Embark on a camel trek across the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes, capturing beautiful photographs as the dunes glow in the setting sun. Once we reach the camp, we’ll leave the camels and hike to the highest dunes for sandboarding and sunset views. We’ll spend the night in a Berber nomadic tent camp, enjoying a traditional desert feast and entertainment with desert drums and songs. Be sure to gaze at the starry sky above.
